Learning to Snorkel

Snorkeling is great fun, easy to learn and an ideal way to build up confidence in the water. It is accessible to anyone - young or old - and is an enjoyable way to get the whole family involved.

For younger members of the family, snorkeling is also a great introduction to underwater sports and can be their first step towards learning to dive.

BSAC’s snorkeling courses are open to children from the age of six – starting with our Basic Snorkel Diver and progressing to Snorkel Dive Manager or Snorkel Instructor.

You can complete a BSAC snorkel course before you go on holiday or you can learn to snorkel to discover the amazing underwater sights our very own coastline has to offer.

Training with BSAC

Training as a Snorkel Diver involves 4 theory lessons, a theory assessment, a basic in-water confidence assessment and 5 practical sessions. We have 2 Nationally Qualified Snorkel Instructors to ensure your training is completed effectively.

The aim of the course is to make sure that by the end of your training you will be a safe confident Snorkel Diver and allow you to get out in the open water to experience it.

If you decide to join the club as a full snorkeling member you become eligible for all the same benefits as diving members, including the monthly Dive magazine, Third Party Insurance, the BSAC Members shop and a host of other members benefits.
